Questions from people
halfway out the door.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You need to know what you want and how to say it to an AI agent. The spec does the rest. If you can write a text message you can build this. If you'd rather not even do that, we'll do it.

What does it cost?

A domain, about $12 a year. Hosting on Cloudflare's free tier is $0 until you're getting more than 100,000 visits a day, at which point congratulations, you're a public figure and should reconsider the whole thing. Everything on this site is free. Our services are the only thing with a price.

Is this a social network?

No. There's no antisocial.media account, no feed, no follow button. It's a set of instructions and a guestbook. Your page lives on your domain and talks to nobody. If you want to know what a friend is up to, you open their page. Like the old days, or like a person.

How do friends get in without a password?

You give them a link with a secret in it. Visiting it sets a signed cookie in their browser for six months. There's nothing to remember and nothing to reset. If you want someone out, you change the secret and re-send the link to everyone else. How tiers work →

Is a link-as-a-key actually secure?

It's as secure as the people you give it to, which is exactly the threat model of a personal page. Someone who forwards your family link is the same someone who'd screenshot your private story. The cookie is HMAC-signed, HttpOnly and Secure, the code is compared in constant time, and a wrong code gets a plain 404. For "my mom, my friends, my coworkers" this is plenty. For state secrets, use something else.

Can I have different tiers than friends / family / work?

Yes. They're folders and a list. "inner circle", "the group chat", "exes", "clients". Tell your agent. Two tiers is fine. Nine is a cry for help but it works.

What about my photos on Instagram?

Request your export (Settings → Your information → Download). Give the zip to your agent and ask for an archive page inside one of your tiers. Or send it to us and we'll do it. Either way you keep everything and stop posting there. You don't have to delete the account. It just stops being where you live.

Can I use my own AI / a different host / a framework?

Any agent that can read a URL works. Any host that can run a small function for the cookie check works: Cloudflare (default), Vercel, Netlify, Deno, a $5 server. Frameworks are allowed but the spec pushes plain HTML because plain HTML will still open in 2040 and your Next.js 14 site will not.

Why does the site look like 2006?

Because 2006 was the last time the page was yours. Also because glitter is fun. The Quiet template exists for people who disagree.

Do you track anything on this site?

One integer (the visitor counter, one count per IP per hour) and the guestbook entries people type. No cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts. If you order a service we keep your email until the job is done. Right-click, view source, check for yourself.

Why 0.69%?

Because a markup on domains is how every website builder traps you, and we wanted one so small it's obviously a joke but not zero, so it's obviously not a loss leader. On a $12 domain it's eight cents.

Who made this?

One person who got tired of the feed and one AI agent that did what it was told. The first page built this way is carrington.ai. Go knock.

Can I put this on TikTok?

Please. That's how most people find the door. Just remember to leave.
